MiAlgae is a pioneering biotech company addressing the growing environmental challenge of overfishing for omega-3 oils. Omega-3 oils are essential nutrients for both human and animal health, but the current method of sourcing these oils—primarily from wild fish—has severe ecological consequences. MiAlgae offers a sustainable alternative by producing NaturAlgae, a nutrient-rich microalgae that can be used in animal feed, particularly for aquaculture and pets, reducing the need for wild-caught fish.
By leveraging co-products from the whisky distillation process, MiAlgae has created a circular economy model that turns waste into value. The company's technology repurposes wastewater and pot ale from whisky distilleries as feedstock for algae cultivation, providing an innovative, eco-friendly way to produce omega-3 oils. This not only alleviates pressure on marine ecosystems but also contributes to significant reductions in CO2 emissions and water waste.
The purpose of this project was to communicate MiAlgae's innovative approach, technological advancements, and their commitment to environmental sustainability. The video needed to clearly explain the environmental problem, introduce MiAlgae’s solution, and highlight their broader mission of reducing humanity's impact on the planet.
